Kieran Toastmonster Kane has headed over to Italy for the Hearthstone Championship Tour event taking place there. As the latest addition to our Hearthstone lineup this year Toastmonster has been building up his experience competing at HCT events and he reflects on his time competing here.

Why do you play Hearthstone?

I play Hearthstone because I feel that despite the image a lot of people have of Hearthstone it is a strategically deep game that has a lot of options every turn. Because of this, it feels like there is always more to learn and that’s where the real joy of Hearthstone is for me.

What would it mean for you to win HCT Italy?

For me it would be a massive reward for the massive improvements I’ve made as a player over the last 6 months, and hopefully it would be my breakout into future tournament success. I’ve narrowly missed out on top 16s by tiebreakers, so this would mean I had proof I was capable of keeping up with the best players the world has to offer.

Do you feel you have a strength or weakness as a player?

I feel my biggest weakness is also where my strengths lie; I can focus very much on one aspect of the game. This is an issue when trying to play ladder and tournaments, as they test very different skillsets and often means I am considerably stronger in one format than the other at any given time. This is obviously great when going for ladder finishes where playing a small pool of decks is incredibly rewarding, or rewarding in tournaments when you’re well versed in lineups and a wide array of matchups but perhaps not as in depth as I am when I have played thousands of games of the one deck.

Last Words

I’d like to give a huge thanks to MnM for providing these opportunities to myself and my teammates, as well as my teammates for soundboarding lineup ideas. Also thank you to our Sponsors for making this possible: Scan Pro Gaming, Zotac, MSI, Gamers Apparel, and SK Sports.
