UKLC League of Legends Week 2 Interview

Week 2 was disappointing to say the least. We lost to the Irish team Phelan Gaming and we looked to chat to the assistant coach Conor Fitzpatrick about how he felt about the loss and the steps he has taken going forward.

How do you feel about the loss this week?

Straight after the loss I mostly felt shocked – we didn’t play like we usually do in the early game, and disrespected the enemies’ win condition. Now that the dust has settled though, there were lots of positives to take from our macro play, and I am happy to see that we are already implementing lessons learned from this loss.

What are you doing to ensure next week is better?

We’re focusing a lot on our communication. We’re now being very specific on our roles and responsibilities, and making sure that we are adaptable when win conditions change mid-game. These are fundamental stepping stones which will help next week, but even more so as we look ahead to try make playoffs.

Do you think the skill level of teams is surprising to you compared to pre-UKLC?

Having watched and coached in many European Regional Leagues, there is still much to learn from various different teams. Overall I’m impressed by the willingness of teams, that WERE lowly rated, to contest objectives and be proactive early.

Any comments for the fans of MnM about Week 3?

Don’t be concerned by our lack of kills in week 2 – we asked the team to play less bloodthirsty and they took it a bit too literally…or that’s what we will say. There will be plenty of montage worthy plays to get hyped over going forward.
